Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Armin Luistro on Monday laughed off a bill filed by Sen. Manuel “Lito” Lapid Jr. that calls for a limit on the weight of bag pupils carry to school.
In his Senate Bill No. 2179, Lapid expressed concern over the side effects of heavy schools bags on young children which could cause chronic shoulder, neck and back pains and affect their posture.
Lapid also proposed that authorities place weighing scales at schools where children could check the weight of their bags.
